Sinopec's megawatt-level renewable electricity electrolysis water hydrogen production demonstration project was successfully put into operation on December 25 in Zhongyuan Oilfield , and Cummins provided a 2.5MW containerized proton exchange membrane (PEM) electrolysis water hydrogen production system responsible for the zero-carbon green hydrogen production of the project.
The Cummins HyLYZER-500® hydrogen production equipment is supplied in containers, and the supporting systems are highly integrated in two standard 40-inch containers, and the system will use two 1.25MW electrolyzers with a total hydrogen production capacity of 500Nm³/h. Cummins also developed a complete supporting solution for the project to ensure the safe and stable operation of the equipment.
HyLYZER® is Cummins' globally proven modular water electrolyzer system designed for easy on-site installation inside or out, with simple interconnectivity to scale up, and an unrivaled record for reliability, low maintenance and on-site safety. Recommended for projects between 400 - 2,000 Nm3/h.
The technical specifications of the HyLYZER-500® are as follows:
This is Sinopec's first 2.5MW-class hydrogen electrolysis demonstration project, and it is also the largest proton exchange membrane water electrolysis hydrogen production plant that has started operation in China, marking a major breakthrough in Sinopec's green hydrogen field. The project will integrate the whole chain of wind and photovoltaics, electrolysis hydrogen production, hydrogen purification, storage and transportation, etc., and build a 3.66MW photovoltaic power station and a 9MW wind power project to provide green kinetic energy for the project to be put into operation.
The project will produce "green hydrogen" with "green electricity", achieve zero carbon emissions in the whole process, the purity of green hydrogen reaches 99.9995%, and the hydrogen output per day can be used for 106 buses to travel all day, with an annual production capacity of nearly 400 tons, effectively promoting the development of China's hydrogen energy industry and helping to achieve the goal of "dual carbon".
Over the past 70 years, Cummins and its affiliates have provided more than 600 sets of water electrolysis equipment worldwide, including more than 70 sets of PEM water electrolysis equipment, including the world's largest 20MW PEM electrolysis water project, located in Quebec, Canada, with a daily output of about 8.2 tons of hydrogen.
Cummins New Energy Business will provide end-to-end green hydrogen solutions for Chinese users throughout the industry chain through continuous technology and product innovation and strong localized operation service capabilities.
